If you are wondering if you could really start a blog of your own without spending any money, it is possible.
There are many popular and common options like Medium, Blogger, Wix, WordPress.com where you can start your blog for free.
But today, I want to show you a site which is very easy to customize even a beginner can do it at ease.
I want you to have a clear motive and confirmation on why you want to start blogging.
This is very important because your ‘why’ will become the reason for your success in the future.
In this post, I will show you how you can start your own blog for free using a site that is owned by Google itself. It is forever free and you can actually build as many sites as you want.
But before diving into the hows, understanding the basics of blogging is necessary.
If you want to just start a blog for the sake of it, you will reach nowhere.
If you are starting a blog to make money and create passive income sources, then read ahead. The guidance you will get here is like a goldmine for you.
The first and foremost thing you have to do ‘Actually Decide’ is what NICHE you are going to blog for!
Yes, choosing a ‘Specific Niche’ is vital for becoming a successful blogger.
What is a Niche?
In simple words, A Niche is a specific category of interest or market based on specific products or people.
Gardening is a niche. You can blog about anything related to gardening. And if you want to see results faster, you need to be specific on the niche you choose because the keyword ‘gardening’ covers numerous topics.
Let’s say, instead of blogging on everything that is related to gardening, you choose gardening tools and blog about only tools that are used and required for gardening or you choose hydroponic tomatoes and blog about only things related to hydroponic tomatoes. This is called Sub-Niche.
You will get fewer audiences, but you will get a quality audience who are interested to learn or buy something which is related to your blog alone!
How To Choose A Niche?
Choosing a niche depends mainly on two factors:
- Interest / Passion
1. Niche Profitability:
If you start a blog to make money online, then profitability is the first thing you must keep in mind.
Ask these questions when deciding the profitability of your blog niche –
Is there a demand?
How often is the demand? All through the year?
What is the availability of the product?
Are there enough products you can promote with this niche?
How much do affiliates get?
If you are satisfied with the answers, then you may go ahead and try it.
Now, you might not have that passion but if you really want to stand out and make real money, follow where the money is, not your passion first!
2. Interest / Passion:
Many people would advise you to blog on things you are passionate about.
But, what is the use if you blog on things that you are passionate about and do not make a single dime?
Yes, if your passion falls under something which is profitable, then there are more chances that you might become successful sooner.
Actually, if you blog about something which you are not passionate about, it will show in your blog. Your audience won’t feel the passion and eventually, you will also feel like it’s making you frustrated.
You can actually develop a passion for something. If you are focus on it.
Ask yourself these questions:
Are you interested to write anything about this niche for at least 2 years?
Can you solve a problem or give valuable information related to the niche you want to choose?
Are you interested to share or talk about it with someone else?
A healthy combination of passion and profitability is the secret fuel that will spark your blogging life to success.
These are the main two factors you have to consider when choosing your niche.
Now I want you to do this.
Take a notebook or a paper and a pen.
Note down up to 10 niches that you think might be good.
Keeping the questions in mind, zeroed in on the niche which gives you the most satisfactory answer to those questions.
Boom, you have come up with a profitable niche!
Now that you have chosen your niche, let’s go to the next step.
How To Choose A Domain Name
Now, you must be wondering if you are blogging for free why do you need a domain name?
Yes, I will not talk about the domain names in detail but it is important for you to know how you will be get known.
I would recommend you to have a domain name that is the closest to your chosen niche because if the domain name is a keyword that is often searched on the net, you have the advantage of being seen in the net faster.
A domain name can be a single, two, or three-lettered word.
With a free blogging platform, you need not decide your domain name.
But, with the site I want to show you today, you need to have a domain name or name of the site.
The site I talked about is Google sites. Many people used it as a kind of landing page or bridge page with affiliate marketing.
Since the site is owned by Google itself, it is also easy to rank if you are building your site on low competition but highly searched keywords.
And even if you never build a site before, it is so easy to customize it. The sites are also flawlessly very mobile responsive.
But, to be honest I would highly recommend that you have your own domain and own site where you have full control if you are looking for making money in the long term because you never know when these sites’ terms and conditions or rules will change.
It would be quite frustrating to see all your hard work gone without any warning due to any technical glitch or because Google or the other free sites just decided to take it down just like that!
This is the very reason why many people prefer to have their own personal site in the first place.
Another reason is, suppose you got a good amount of traffic at those free sites. You will never be able to monetize them or even if it is monetized, the earnings will go to the owner and not to you.
Buying web hosting is not very costly due to the considerable discount offer by different companies.
You could get a year of hosting and a free domain name at Dreamhost for a meager amount of $35 only. It’s a no-brainer in comparison with the top-notch quality service it provided.
Do consider having your own website where you can have full control anytime so that your work never gets lost!
So, we were talking about how you can start your own blog with no money.

If you still need help, you can mention it in the comment section below. I will be eager to help you if needed.
As I mentioned earlier, do not depend on these sites alone. Try to have your own personal site as soon as possible once you have the money to invest in it.
The earlier you build your very own website, the better for you to be able to grow and scale your blogging business.
Hope you find it helpful. Share your experience about building Google and how it works for you.
